Summer Carnival

Every year on the 4th of July weekend, the city we live in hosts their "Town Days" celebration, and that includes a carnival, parade, rodeo, concert, car show, fireworks, and so on. It's a pretty big event, and this must be the most expensive event for the tax payers. Oh, I don't mean to sound like I'm against it, it's just we're not big on rodeos or demolition derbies or even parades, so my family doesn't participate in much, except for the carnival. My kids like to go to the carnival and ride on some of the fun rides.
Since I'm a neurotic person, I don't let them ride on half of the rides (they look too harmful and too dangerous!), so they don't have many choices. I wish they have more "in-between" rides: not as simple as a merry-go-around, but not as extreme as a spinner or a roller coaster that goes upside down with a lot of speed.

私たちの住む市は毎年独立記念日の週末に3日間のお祝いを催します。パレード、ロデオ、コンサート、カーニバル、花火など盛りだくさん。うちの子供たちは毎年カーニバルの乗り物に乗るのをとても楽しみにしています。
ただ、乗り物は回転するローラーコースターとか絶叫マシーンタイプが多いのですよね。もっと中間のレベルの乗り物があるといいのに、と思います。

Nobody else in our family wanted to ride on this one, so he rode this twice by himself.
Next year, I should ride this with him. I think I can take it...

これはマーカスが好きな乗り物。ズームすると、上でマーカスが手を振っている様子が見えます。ほかに誰も乗りたくなかったので、彼は独りで2回乗りました。来年は一緒に乗ってあげよう！っと思っています。

Rio has been sick and she still wasn't feeling that great, so she rode only one ride with Marcus. He rode a few with his dad, and others by himself. We stayed there about an hour and a half, then went to a nearby fast food restaurant to have milkshakes to end the night.
It was nice to go out and do something as a family. Anthony was fine for most of the part, thankfully. While we were walking around at the carnival, however, he dropped his shorts to the ground to adjust his underwear and my heart nearly stopped when he did it (and he did it twice!). I really hope that nobody was watching.

リオは先週ずっと風邪でダウンしていてまだ完治していなかったため乗ったのは１つだけ。主人とマーカスが一緒に2つほど乗ってあとはマーカス1人で乗ってました。ちょっと寂しいですね〜来年はもっと皆で乗らなきゃ！
カーニバルのあとは近くのファーストフードのミルクシェークで締めくくった夜でした。ささやかでしたが家族で出かけるのはやっぱり楽しいですね。アントニーも比較的良い子にしてくれたので助かりました。ただ、カーニバルでは2回ほど突然ショートパンツを落として下着パンツ姿をさらしてしまった彼。誰も見ていなかった事を祈ります．．．（汗）
