Pumpkins

This year we purchased a few different type of pumpkins at a farmers market. They are all interesting looking, don't you think?
From the left: Galeux d'Eysines (Peanut), Long Island Cheese, Jarrahdale, Rouge Vif d'Etampes (Cinderella).
I love the color of Rouge Vif d'Etampes, but it was the least flavorful unfortunately. By far, Galeux d'Eysines was the best! We saved the seeds, so James is excited about growing them next year. It will be fun!


今年は、ファーマーズマーケットで、珍しいパンプキンをいくつか購入しました。
左のブツブツのあるパンプキンが1番甘くて美味しかったです。右端のはシンデレラのパンプキンと言われるものですが、色と形がエレガントで素敵でしたが、風味は今ひとつでした。（残念）

どのパンプキンも種を取っておいているので来年はジェームズが植える予定。今から楽しみです。

I can't believe October passed so quickly, and November is almost half way done! Christmas will be here before we know it at this pace. We are planning to go on a vacation during Christmas break, so I'm not doing any Christmas shopping to speak of in order to save money. I hear many people mention about Christmas shopping every year, but since we only buy a couple of things for Rio and Marcus only, I've never stressed out like the others. I'm just going to simply enjoy the holiday season, baking goodies for friends and neighbors. :)

あっという間に10月が終わってしまい、既に11月も中旬近くなりました。このままだと、すぐにクリスマスが到来しそうです。クリスマスには旅行に出かける予定にしているので、クリスマスプレゼントのお買い物は控えめにしようと思っています。皆、クリスマス時期にはプレゼントの買出し（？）で大変で、12月中は挨拶では「クリスマスの買い物はもう済ませた？」と聞きあうのがアメリカ文化の日常ですが、我が家はリオとマーカスにちょこっと買うだけにしているので、私は全くストレスたまりません。（苦笑）
友人や近所に配るクッキーやお菓子を焼いてクリスマスシーズンをのんびり楽しめるかな？
