Wow! What a week we had. The soccer team Marcus is on participated in the Adidas Cup Tournament which started on Wednesday. Of course, he had a practice on Tuesday, so Monday was the only day he didn't play soccer (and played the violin♪).
His grandma and grandpa got a cool soccer backpack for him, and it arrived just in time on the first day of the tournament. He was so excited to use his new backpack.
今週はサッカー三昧の一週間でした。マーカスのチームが参加したトーナメントが水曜日に開始し、毎日試合の連続。火曜日はもちろん練習があったので、サッカーなしの日は月曜日だけだったのですよ。（もちろんその日はバイオリン♪）
グランマとグランパが買ってくれた新品のサッカーバックパックを背負ってご機嫌でトーナメントに参加しました。
His team played hard, and made it to the semi-final, but lost in overtime to the team that ended up winning the championship for their bracket.
Marcus played very well and even scored to take the lead in the first half! He was so disappointed in the loss and cried after the game. I've never seen him cry over a loss. It broke my heart to see him like that.
彼のチームは頑張って準決勝まで進みましたが、その試合は延長戦に持ち越したものの負けてしまいました。マーカスは前半、2対1とリードするゴールを決めたり、ディフェンスで活躍したのですが、相手は最終的に決勝戦で優勝したチームで、やはり強かったです。マーカスは負けたのがかなり悔しかったみたいで、試合後は泣いていました。試合に負けて泣く彼を見るのは初めてだったので、私までもらい泣きしてしまいました。
Although his team didn't make it to the final, it was a great learning experience for his team. Marcus improved so much over the last few games, and I'm so proud of his effort. He even practiced with his dad over an hour after the game on Thursday to work on his skills. What a kid!
Now that the tournament is over, I can't wait for the fall season to start! (yes, I'm serious.)
負けたのは残念だったけれど、このトーナメントは彼のチームにとって良い勉強になったと思います。マーカスはこの一週間でかなり上達しましたよ。木曜日には試合後帰宅してから1時間以上練習したりと、頑張っていました。
忙しい毎日でしたが、終わったら終わったでなんだか寂しかったりします。秋シーズンが始まるのが楽しみ！
