My mother-in-law stopped by the other day, and gave us a bag full of cherries. She said that she was able to buy them for only $.99/lb. We love cherries, and since we had plenty of them, I decided to make clafoutis.
お義母さんが、安くで手に入ったと山ほどチェリーを持って来てくれました。チェリーは大好きなので皆でパクパク食べましたが、なかなか減らないのでクラフティを作りました。
I don't have a cherry pitter, but I know you can substitute it with a straw. It's so easy to pit a cherry with a straw. Marcus saw me doing it and started to help me.
He loves helping me in the kitchen. I bet he will be a good cook when he grows up.
He arranged cherries all by himself.
When I posted on facebook about clafoutis, some people asked me what clafoutis is. I guess it's not so popular here in the States. It's a french dessert of cherries arranged in a buttered dish and covered with a thick flan-like batter. It is served warm, dusted with powdered sugar.
If you like flan, you'd like this dessert. It's not too sweet, and has very tender flavor. Somehow, clafoutis is such a nostalgic dessert to me.
