Spring Time

May 1st was our anniversary. Since we are busy with kids' activities in the evening, we decided to take three days off together and do something fun during the day. We went window shopping at City Creek, had lunch at the Cheese Cake Factory, went to the Salt Lake Temple, and went to see the movie, etc. It was so nice to spend time together.

5月1日は結婚記念日でした。夕方/夜は子供たちの用事で忙しいので、ジェームズと私は仕事を3日間休み、子供が皆学校に行っている間に2人で遊びに出かけることにしました。ショッピングモールでゆっくりウインドー・ショッピングをしたり、ソルトレイク神殿に出かけたり、美味しいレストランでランチをしたり、映画を見に行ったり、とすっかり満喫♪　たまには2人だけの時間を過ごすのは良いものですね。楽しかったです。

Last Friday afternoon, I participated in another race. This was the Summer of Giving 5K hosted by eBay. The race was free, but they asked you to donate for charity.

5月3日の午後は、またレースに参加してしまいました。5キロコースのチャリティ・レースでした。

They used a time chip for the race, and my time was 28:03. Fastest in my age group, and the 8th place among the females. I guess that's not too bad, but I was hoping to run a bit faster. I should be able to run within 27 minutes someday if I keep working on it. That will be my goal for the future 5K race.

このレースは、時間を正確に測るタイムチップを靴に取り付けて走るレースだったので、自分のレース結果がはっきりわかるのが嬉しかったです。（タイムチップを使わないレースは皆が同時に出発するので、後ろのほうに並んで走ると、どうしても結果に損が出ちゃうので、競争心ありのA型タイプの私はいつも不満気味なのです。苦笑）私の時間は28分3秒。女性の中では8位、年齢層では一番早かったです。（歳だという証明ですね。笑）予想より遅い結果だったので、ちょっとがっかり。もう少しトレーニングして27分以内に走れるようになりたいです。

Sunday was a beautiful day. Rio asked us if we could go to Temple Square together, so we did. The flowers are so beautiful.

日曜日はとてもお天気がよかったので、リオの提案でテンプル・スクエアへお出かけしました。
お花がとっても綺麗でした。

I forgot to take my camera with me, so these are taken by my tablet. I have to remember to take my camera next time.

カメラを持っていくのを忘れたので、タブレットで撮影。次回はちゃんとカメラもって行かなきゃ、です。

We are going to be so busy with Marcus's soccer for the next two weeks. Then it will be over! Yay! I'm hoping that we can focus more on violin once we're done with soccer. ;)

Marcus finally started violin lessons with a new teacher, and he has had two lessons with her so far. We really like his new teacher. She is so wonderful, and she helps him to understand the music theory behind the piece in order for him to play like a musician. I feel like we're going into a new territory of violin playing. She studied at Curtis and Julliard, and she plays for the Utah Symphony. She is also half Japanese, and Marcus is so comfortable with her. Plus, she has the friendliest dog ever. Her dog is super cute and I look forward to seeing her dog when I go to her house for lessons. :)

We are not sure how long Marcus will continue with her because she actually doesn't have a studio. She teaches at Westminster College, but doesn't have any private students. She is willing to teach Marcus until we find a permanent teacher, but we might stay with her for a while since both Marcus and I like her so much.

来週、再来週は、マーカスのサッカーで大忙しになります。トーナメント試合が始まるのです。でも、それが終わったらサッカーはひと休みできるかな？あともう少しの辛抱（？）です。

ところで、探していたマーカスの新しいバイオリンの先生がとりあえず決まりました。2回レッスンを受けましたが、とても教え方が音楽的/芸術的でマーカスも私も感動しています。この先生は、ユタ・シンフォニーのメンバーで、有名な音楽学校の「カーテイス音楽学校」と「ジュリアード」で学んだことのあるバイオリニスト。音楽の捉え方が違っていて、勉強になります。日本人のハーフなので、それも私たちにとっては馴染みやすく、マーカスが喜んでいます。レッスンに行くと、ペットの犬と猫がいて（その犬が可愛い！尻尾を振って大喜びで寄って来てくれるのです。）、私はそのワンちゃんに会えるのが楽しみだったりします。

ただ、この先生は大学で教えているもののプライベートの生徒がいないので、リサイタルとか他の生徒との交流などはないのです。だから、とりあえず、という形でレッスンを受けています。あと数週レッスンを受けてから、今後のことを決めようかな？と思っています。
