Last year we were invited to the back stage tour of the Hale Centre Theatre. This theatre is a charming little theatre in West Valley City, and according to their website, "the productions are cast entirely from within the community using local artists who share their talents as a pastime rather than a profession". Surprisingly, we have many talented performers in Utah.
When we participated in the tour, they gave us a "buy one get one free ticket" voucher, and I gave it to my mother-in-law. Of course, she is so sweet that she used it to get tickets for us to see "Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat". The kids (especially Rio) love this musical, so they were so excited to see it today.
ユタには「ヘイルズシアター」という、劇場があります。とても小さな趣きのあるシアターで、劇やミュージカルを地元の役者のみを採用して公演します。昨年、ステージツアーに参加した時に、チケットの割引券をもらったのですが、その割引券をお義母さんにあげたら、それを使ってチケットを取ってくれました。相変わらず優しいです、お義母さん。観に行ったショーは「ヨセフ・アンド・アメージング・テクニカラー・ドリームコート」。このミュージカルは子供たちが好きなので、とても喜んで出かけてきました。
This was the first time we saw the show at this theatre (or any theatre, for that matter!), and it was dazzling. It's so amazing how much you can do on a small stage like theirs.
Another interesting fact was that Rio's voice teacher was cast as one of the wives of Joseph's brothers. (Rio has been asking for voice lessons for a long time, and finally we decided that she would take voice lessons and stop flute lessons for a while. She still plays the flute in the school's band, and she is planning to audition for the school district's youth symphony, but she will not be taking private lessons.) Seeing her teacher in the performance made our experience extra special. We went to see her after the show and she was happy to see us.
ステージは円状で、観客がぐるっと取り囲む形になっているのですが、小さいステージをうまく活用した見事なショーでした。
偶然ながら、リオの歌のレッスンの先生がキャストの一員だったのでさらに観る楽しみが倍増。
ショーの後に先生と記念撮影もしました。
